All our garden designs are bespoke so the design fee varies based on the size of garden and complexity.

Seek to Understand

Hiring a garden designer is a big step so we try to make it inspiring and worry-free. At our initial consultation we will have had the chance to see if we will work well together and I am the right designer for you. The next step is to carry out a garden survey to determine the garden aspect, dimensions, slope and key features.

We will take the time to look at all the possibilities and gain an insight into the character of garden and landscape you prefer.

Presentation

We have already taken the time to understand your needs with our first visit and subsequent conversations so we use our second visit to present a sketch plan of our interpretation of your desired garden.

We will also use this visit to show various options on a "Mood Board" and paving samples that helps develop our understanding of your dream-garden.

This is very much an interactive process and helps clarify the aspects of the design process you would like developing further.

A Detailed Plan

This is where the whole process takes shape with our presentation of a scaled drawing of your garden, any sculptural or design features, a lighting plan and suggestions on planting plan to help you see how your dream garden will be in reality.

We will also give you a detailed synopsis to help transform the garden of your imagination into a physical reality.

Transformation

You’ll see your garden really start to take shape as we get into the construction. I’m on hand to work closely with the contractor, answering any questions that arise and to make sure the design becomes a stunning reality.

Using the master plan a scaled, detailed planting plan is drawn up taking into consideration soil type, climate, drainage, style of garden, your requirements and environment.

Although optional the planting is a large part of the transformation and makes it complete

“My back garden was enjoyed by my dogs and my children for years but it never felt like a space I could enjoy.  It was on a slope so I was never able to have an eating area or somewhere to sit to while away the summer evenings.

Anyone who knows me will tell you that I do not have an artistic bone in my body and I find it difficult to visualise things so when it came time to finally do the garden I needed help.

I employed Cedar Garden Design and Kathryn was fantastic. She listened to what I wanted and then designed and planned a garden that fit in perfectly with what I wished for.  Now I have a seating area and a dining area and some beautiful plants which are enhanced with lighting.
